Toku provides employer-sponsored international health insurance through Remote Health by SafetyWing. This plan offers comprehensive global medical coverage and is designed to support employees wherever they live or travel.

Coverage includes inpatient and outpatient care, mental health services, dental and optical benefits, emergency treatment, and wellness support.

Benefit effective dates available in the portal are limited to the 1st or the 15th of each month. An employee’s coverage will begin on the first eligible effective date on or after their hire date.

Examples:

• If an employee is hired on January 1, their benefits can begin on January 1.
• If an employee is hired on January 2, their benefits would begin on January 15.
• If an employee is hired on January 18, their benefits would begin on February 1. This structure ensures coverage is aligned to the nearest available effective date following the employee’s start date.

Premium & Cost Overview

Monthly premiums vary by age, plan tier, and coverage region. All rates are per person per month based on 12-month contracts. Toku covers 100% of the employee premium.

In-Patient & Hospital Coverage

Applies when treatment requires hospital admission.

• Hospital stays in a standard private room
• Covered at 100% of Usual, Customary, and Reasonable (UCR) charges
• Surgery and anesthesia, including pre- and post-operative care
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU) when medically necessary
• Maternity care:
  • Up to $4,500 per delivery
  • 20% co-insurance
  • 10-month waiting period
• Cancer treatment, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy 🛑 Pre-authorization is required for hospital admissions lasting 5 nights or more.

Out-Patient & Specialist Care

Applies to care not requiring hospital admission.

• Doctor and specialist consultations
• Diagnostic testing and imaging (X-ray, MRI, CT scans)
• Prescription medications (subject to policy limits)
• Physiotherapy and rehabilitation
• Mental health services:
  • Up to 20 sessions per year under the Premium Plus plan
• Follow-up visits within 7 days at the same provider are covered at no cost

Dental & Optical Coverage

• Preventive dental care:
  • Up to $1,500 per year
• Routine and major dental treatments:
  • Covered up to policy limits
• Orthodontic treatment:
  • Not included
• Eye exams and prescription glasses:

Emergency, Evacuation & Travel Coverage

• Emergency medical treatment for accidents and sudden illness
• Emergency treatment outside your home country:
  • Up to $50,000 per year
• Medical evacuation and repatriation:
  • Up to $100,000

Preventive Care & Wellness Benefits

• Annual wellness check-ups and preventive screenings
• Vaccinations:

• Newborn care when added in accordance with plan rules
• Maternity complications:
  • Covered up to $50,000
• Prenatal and postnatal care included (waiting period applies)

Chronic & Pre-Existing Conditions

• Chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension are covered
• Pre-existing conditions are covered from day one
• No waiting period applies
