Croatian employees get two optional benefits: fully employer-sponsored international health insurance through Remote Health (covering medical care worldwide), and a voluntary 3rd pillar pension fund with Raiffeisen for additional retirement savings with potential tax advantages.

Welcome to Toku! As an employee based in Croatia, you have access to two voluntary benefits in addition to your statutory Croatian social security entitlements: international health insurance through Remote Health by SafetyWing, and a voluntary 3rd pillar (Pillar 3) pension fund with Raiffeisen. Both are optional and you can enroll in either, both, or neither.

This page walks through what's available and how to sign up.

  • Maternity, newborn, and family care
  • Chronic and pre-existing conditions (covered from day one - no waiting period)

  2. Within 5 business days, SafetyWing will contact you from [email protected] to collect any remaining details and finalize your enrollment.

Voluntary 3rd Pillar Pension Fund (Raiffeisen)

Croatia's pension system has three pillars. The 1st and 2nd pillars are mandatory and already handled through your standard payroll. The 3rd pillar is voluntary โ€” it's a private savings plan you can opt into if you'd like to build additional retirement savings, with potential tax advantages.

Toku has set up a process with the Raiffeisen Voluntary Pension Fund so that, if you choose to enroll, your monthly contribution will be deducted directly from your gross salary and remitted to your individual pension fund account.

Key things to know

  • Enrollment is completely optional.
  • You choose the monthly contribution amount that comes out of your gross salary.
  • Both employee-only and employee + employer contribution models are supported (default is employee-only - speak to your Toku Benefits contact if you want to discuss an employer-contribution arrangement with your company).
  • The deduction will be reflected in an annex to your employment contract.
  • Pillar 3 contributions are not reported on the standard Croatian payroll slip and are not filed through the JOPPD form to the Croatian Tax Authorities - there's nothing additional you need to file on your side.

Step 1 - Complete the Raiffeisen membership application

If you hold a valid Croatian ID: You can enroll online (recommended) using either:

  • Web: https://mojracun.rmf.hr/dmf-online/

  • Mobile app: "Raiffeisen mirovinski fondovi" - available on the App Store and Google Play (handy for viewing your balance once your account is active). Please have ready:

  • Your valid Croatian ID card

  • Your OIB (Personal Identification Number)

  • Your mobile phone (for video identification) You'll complete a short video identification step (a liveness check + ID scan) which replaces having to visit a branch in person.

If you don't hold a Croatian ID: You'll need to enroll in person at any Raiffeisenbank Croatia branch. The remaining steps after enrollment are the same.

Step 2 - Fill in the application form

When you reach the question "Will the employer make contributions to the fund?", please answer "No" if you're setting this up as an employee-only deduction. (If you've separately arranged for your employer to contribute, please reach out to the Toku Benefits team before submitting so we can confirm the right answer for your case.)

Step 3 - Send us your payment instructions

After submitting the application, Raiffeisen will email you a PDF with payment instructions that includes your personal reference number ("Poziv na broj") for your individual Voluntary Pension Fund account.

Please forward that PDF to [email protected] along with:

  • The monthly contribution amount you'd like deducted from your gross salary
  • Your full name and OIB (so Raiffeisen can verify the account on their side once your first contribution lands)

Step 4 - Annex to your employment contract

Because Pillar 3 contributions aren't shown on the standard Croatian payroll slip, the salary-deduction arrangement is documented in an annex to your employment contract. Toku's HR team will prepare this and send it your way for signature once we have your contribution amount confirmed.

Step 5 - Activation

Your fund membership becomes active once Raiffeisen receives your first contribution from payroll. From that point on, the deduction is processed monthly alongside your regular payroll.

Changing or stopping contributions

If you'd like to change your monthly contribution amount or stop contributions at any point, just email [email protected] and we'll coordinate the change with payroll.
